Dog Toy Service Project

During the month of December, Centennial Key Club began the Dog Toy Service Project, where members could make dog toys for service hours. Dog toys can be made of old t-shirts and other materials. Each toy would be donated to the Corona Animal Shelter. Members would send pictures of their completed dog toys to the Centennial Key Club email. The Dog Toy Service Project will continue into the next month and it will end during January.

Winter Festival

On November 30, Centennial High School held its annual winter festival, where clubs had the opportunity to set up a booth, promote their club, and sell food in order to raise money for their club. For Centennial Key Club’s winter festival, we decided to sell pepperoni and cheese pizzas. Anyone could order pizzas from Key Club’s booth for $2 each. As a club, we raised $170 in sales and sold out in less than one hour! Members had the opportunity to raise service hours by either working at the booth or by walking around and promoting our booth. We gained a total of 55 service hours from this event! The winter festival was an extremely successful event.

Color-A-Smile Service Event

Throughout the month of November, from the 1st to the 30th, Centennial had a service event called Color-A-Smile, where members would go to the color a smile website, print out coloring pages, and color them. We would mail them to children in need of a smile, in hopes that we could improve their days. The event was very successful, as we gained a total of 18 hours!

UNICEF Math for Good

On November 1st, Centennial introduced a new service event called UNICEF Math for Good, where members could gain hours by working on math problems online. For every question they get correct, the website would donate a certain amount of money to UNICEF. The event ended on November 30th. Members collectively spent a total of 9 hours working on this service project.

Poster Party Service Event

To prepare for Centennial’s winter festival, Key Club held poster party service events where members could help make posters that would be presented at Key Club’s booth. Lots of members came to help make the posters and they collectively spent a total of 16 hours working on the posters.

Lei Making Service Event/Fundraiser

With Fall Rally coming up, throughout the month of October, Centennial Key Club has been preparing by making Leis for our members to purchase and wear. We have had multiple Lei Making Service Events where members would collect ribbon (lei materials) and create their leis together. If they decided to keep the lei that they made, they would owe Centennial Key Club $5, but if they wanted to buy a lei that they didn’t make themselves, they would owe $7. Centennial raised $77 from this service event/fundraiser.

Committee Announcement

On October 18th, Centennial announced their newly elected Committee board. There were three new board members: Ronald Gomez (Fundraising Committee), Erik Perez (Webmaster Committee), and Gavin Tan-Torres (Service Committee). For the rest of their term, they will be working closely with their respective committee heads and their officer board to support officer/club tasks and work on their own projects!

Free Rice Service Project

On September 13, Centennial hosted the Free Rice Service Project. Members could download the Free Rice app, or get onto the Free Rice website, and answer vocabulary questions to gain service hours. On the Free Rice app, for every question that you answer correctly, they donate 10 grains of rice to the United Nations World Food Program. Centennial’s members were to send a screenshot of their screen time on the Free Rice app to the Centennial Key Club email. The Free Rice service project ended on September 30.

Cen10 x Santi Peppermint Ridge Run Community Service Event

Article 2 - Cen10 x Santi Peppermint Ridge Run Community Service Event On September 18th, Centennial High Key Club and Santiago High Key Club held a joint community service event from 5:30 AM - 11:00 AM. The event was split up into two shifts, the first being 2.5 hours and the second being 3 hours. Members helped set up, supervise, and run the Peppermint Ridge Run Event. The service event took place at Santa Ana Riverbed Trail - West Riverside.

Lei Making Service Event

On September 29, Centennial hosted a Lei Making service event from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM. During this service event, our members used ribbons to create leis to wear as division merch! The Lei Making service event was extremely successful, with members gaining a total of 96 service hours for our club.

Club Rush

On September 1st, Centennial had their Club Rush, where Centennial High School clubs were able to promote and attract new members. Centennial Key Club had a farm-themed booth, and our officers were there during lunch to educate and pitch Key Club to new potential members!

First General Meeting

On September 3rd, Centennial hosted their very first in-person meeting of the school year, with over 60 members attending! During the meeting, we educated new members on what Key Club is and what we do as a club. We held the meeting in our advisor, Mrs. Burke's room. All of our members had a great time and learned a lot about our club, division, and general Key Club 101.

Charity Miles Run For Service

From June 16th until July 31st, Centennial Key Club began the Charity Miles Service event where members would gain one hour of community service for every 3 miles that they ran. To participate, members had to download the Charity Miles app on their mobile phones and set their charity as UNICEF. Setting their charity as UNICEF would count money raised from the miles that members traveled towards UNICEF. To count hours, members were required to join the Centennial Key Club group, which kept track of the number of miles that everyone went. In total, Centennial gained 334 hours from this service event and ran a total of 1002 miles!

Kindness Chains Service Event

On July 1st, Centennial Key Club started the Kindness Chains service event, where members could create paper chains with words of kindness or uplifting messages written on each link. These chains were sent out to people in need of kind words and smiles. Members sent pictures of their completed chains along with the amount of time that they spent working on them.
